Energex TV Commerical
On Sunday 23 October I was in a TV commercial for Energex. My call time was 1pm and as usual with me I was early. The location was a house (whose I have no idea) out at Brookfield. I thought it would take ages to get there but I made it in about 25 minutes.
After arriving and meeting up with Bree, the costume girl, I had nothing much to do but wait. And then came lunch. My "wife" for the purposes of the commercial arrived. I had met her (Andrea) at the costume fitting a week earlier and so we sat down and chatted for a while.
Finally it was time to do our stuff and we took our seats at a tiny square dinner table, complete with food, radio and flashlight, all of which I was meant to interact with, and my wife, in the space of a few moments film time.
We rehearsed a few times and then did some takes. It all seemed to go smoothly; the director was happy, I was hamming it up (because I had too) and Andrea was trying not to laugh at me. After the filming was done a photogrpaher came in and needed to take photos of us for a billboard. Whether I will see myself on a billboard remains to be seen. I think it would be a strange thing to see though. Anyway he took what felt like a couple of hundred photos and we were done.
I got changed and upon stepping out of the room was told that the photographer needed me back on set again. Apparently something had gone wrong with his camera and he needed to do the shots over again. Andrea and I took our places at the table again and he got his shots. That was it for us and off home I went, with a couple of stopovers.
From what I could gather the commerical is to get people to have a radio handy during the summer storm season in case of blackouts, i.e. they can get weather and power updates.
Hope it turns out alright. In fact, I'd just be glad to see it, meaning I haven't even seen the Abused Child's Trust commercial I did months ago.
